MBULELO SOGONI

DIRECTOR-GENERAL

Mr Mbulelo Sogoni is a dedicated public servant and leader with decades of experience in education, politics, and government administration.

He began his career as a teacher and Deputy Principal in KwaBhaca before entering public office, where he served as District Mayor of Alfred Nzo, Member of the Provincial Legislature, and MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism. He later became Premier of the Eastern Cape, leading the province during a key period of democratic transition, and went on to serve as MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Mr Sogoni later transitioned into administration as Director-General, bringing his deep knowledge of governance to the executive management of the provincial government.

An academic and thought leader, he completed a Master of Public Administration in 2011, with a thesis on capacity development through public-private partnerships. He has also served on several boards, including chairing the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA).

His career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and the development of the Eastern Cape.
