A moment of pride as the Eastern Cape Provincial Government officially opens another government-owned state-of-the-art office complex, this time in Komani - Chris Hani District Municipality recently.
The office complex is named ‘Bathandwa Ndondo Office Park . This is in line with Premier Mabuyane s State of the Province pronouncement; that the new and refurbished building should be named after the liberation struggle hero.
The Bathandwa Ndondo Office Park is a portion of the Komani Psychiatric Hospital in the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality, situated alongside the N6 from the Carthcart side, and has had buildings that were no longer utilized that the Chris Hani regional management thought could be utilized to avert the challenge that the department is facing of a shortage of office space. The Chris Hani district is one of the largest largely rural districts in the province. Office accommodation throughout the district, whether private or public owned, is scarce, so much that the department ends up leasing various small properties to accommodate one department.
In trying to avert the aforementioned challenges the Chris Hani regional management identified some of the underutilized land and took a decision to construct government office accommodation. The idea behind the decision was to reduce the money the department has been paying towards rentals and also to ensure that all the components of any particular department are housed.
