The Eastern Cape Provincial Government through the Department of Health proudly marked a significant milestone with the official welcoming of 50 newly appointed healthcare professionals at Frere Tertiary Hospital in Ku-Gompo (Formerly East London).
Led by MEC for Health, Ntandokazi Capa, the welcoming engagement celebrated the successful strengthening of clinical, management and specialist capacity at one of the province s most critical tertiary hospitals.
The newly appointed staff includes senior management, medical specialists, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. Among them are a Senior Manager for Medical Services, Heads of Department and Clinical Units, clinical specialists in paediatrics, surgery and anaesthetics, medical doctors, professional nurses and allied health practitioners, all strategically placed to enhance leadership, governance and patient care.
As a specialist referral hospital serving approximately 3.2 million people across the Central Region of the Eastern Cape, Frere Tertiary Hospital plays a vital role in the province s health system. With a bed utilisation rate above the national average, the hospital continues to operate under significant demand, making the provisioning of human resources both timely and impactful.
Welcoming the new appointees, MEC Capa reaffirmed the Provincial Government s commitment to building a capable, resilient and responsive health system.
