In a significant gesture of recognition and support, the O.R. Tambo District Municipality has provided Nyandeni Local Municipality with cleaning equipment worth over R200,000 for its outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and cleanliness.

This commendation comes after Nyandeni was crowned the winner of the Greenest Municipality Competition within the district, a competitive initiative aimed at encouraging municipalities to prioritise environmental management and promote cleaner, greener towns.

To support Nyandeni s ongoing efforts, the district handed over a suite of vital cleaning equipment, including two road sweepers, two handheld sweeper machines, two grass cutters, and one garden tractor.

The new equipment will play a crucial role in maintaining municipal standards and encouraging community participation in keeping towns clean.

The handover reaffirms the government s commitment to empowering municipalities and ensuring that every corner of the province benefits from cleaner, healthier, and more livable environments.
