Young people of Umzimvubu Local Municipality received a major boost this week as the Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) brought government services directly to the community through its Mayoral Outreach Programme, held in Danti Village.
The outreach, led by the Executive Mayor of ANDM, Cllr. Vukile Mhlelembana, saw the handover of much-needed working equipment and machinery to local youth businesses and cooperatives. These included tools aimed at enhancing small enterprise productivity, creating sustainable job opportunities, and empowering young people to drive their own economic development.
This initiative is not just about delivering services; it s about investing in the future. We are equipping our young people with tools to create jobs, grow businesses, and transform their communities,” said Cllr. Mhlelembana.
In addition to business equipment, the Executive Mayor also handed over laptops to youth participants and wheelchairs to community members living with disabilities, highlighting the municipality s inclusive approach to development.
The outreach was part of the municipality s broader plan to deepen citizen engagement and bring government services directly to the people. It allowed community members to receive updates on service delivery progress in their area and to raise critical issues impacting their daily lives.
