Eastern Cape Health MEC Capa Hands Over Computers to Youth Zone in Gqeberha

Eastern Cape Department of Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa, officially handed over five brand-new computers to the St Stephens Anglican Church Youth Zone in New Brighton, Gqeberha. This landmark initiative is part of the department s Health Promotion Programme and marks the establishment of the province s first church-based Youth Zone.

The Youth Zone initiative, developed in collaboration and supported by a generous donation of Wi-Fi-enabled computers from MTNza, aims to expand access to essential health services for young people in underserved communities.

"Youth Zones are very close to my heart because they help us tackle pressing issues like teenage pregnancy in the province," said MEC Capa. "There are young people in churches, and through this church-based, first-of-its-kind Youth Zone, we are committed to finding and supporting them wherever they are."

The newly equipped Youth Zone will serve as a digital hub, enabling young people in New Brighton to access basic healthcare information, educational resources, and support services in a safe and inclusive environment.

This initiative reflects the Provincial Government s commitment to empowering youth, promoting wellness, and leveraging community-based structures to drive public health outcomes across the Eastern Cape.
