Eastern Cape Matric Exams Continue Smoothly Amid Flood Challenges
The Eastern Cape's 2024 matric exams are proceeding smoothly. The provincial government, led by Education MEC Fundile Gade, has ensured that students can take their exams in safe and secure conditions, implementing contingency plans for areas affected by recent floods.
MEC Gade has conducted oversight visits to various examination centres, including those in flood-stricken areas such as Nelson Mandela Bay, to ensure the swift continuation of the matric exams. During these visits, he assessed the implementation of exam protocols and confirmed that learners received the necessary support during this critical period.
His presence underscored the provincial government s commitment to creating a conducive environment for learners to focus on their final exams, even in challenging circumstances.
We ve worked tirelessly to ensure that all learners could complete their exams, regardless of the flooding in some areas. Our priority is their safety and academic success,” said Gade.
Special arrangements have been made in the hardest hit areas, including the establishment of alternative examination centres. MEC Gade assured the public that the department remains vigilant, and all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the exams proceed smoothly.
The Eastern Cape Provincial Government remains optimistic about achieving positive matric results for the 2024 academic year.
