Eastern Cape Provincial Government Unveils State-of-the-Art Phathilizwe Junior Secondary School
KwaSongwevu Village in Mbashe Local Municipality is now home to a state-of-the-art educational facility. The Eastern Cape Provincial Government has officially opened the R118 million Phathilizwe Junior Secondary School, a shining example of its commitment to quality education and community upliftment.

The school, part of the Accelerated School Infrastructure Development (ASID) initiative, consolidates six schools into one and serves 1,200 learners. Spanning 5,000 square meters, the facility includes modern classrooms, administration blocks, a computer lab, security fencing, covered walkways, leisure areas, water tanks, and drinking fountains.

This mega school is a beacon of hope for our rural community, offering world-class facilities and opportunities for growth. We remain committed to empowering our people through education and sustainable community development,” said MEC Fundile Gade.

The construction of the school also created significant local employment, with over 538 jobs, including 74 for women and 244 for youth, further emphasizing the government s focus on community empowerment.

Phathilizwe Junior Secondary School stands as a testament to the Eastern Cape Provincial Government s dedication to providing high-quality education and improving the lives of rural communities.
