Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane is set to lead a high-level delegation to China from 24 to 31 August 2024. The visit will focus on the Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang and Zhejiang, aiming to enhance the Eastern Cape's economic connections and promote trade, investment, and tourism.
The Eastern Cape and Zhejiang Province have a long-standing partnership, with cooperation extending across trade, science, culture, and education. The visit will seek to revitalize this relationship and explore new opportunities, including in agriculture, energy, and e-commerce.
Key activities will include meetings with provincial leaders, business networking events, and the signing of several memoranda of understanding. Premier Mabuyane expressed his optimism, stating that this visit represents a crucial opportunity to strengthen the province s economic ties and unlock new opportunities for growth and collaboration.”
The visit also includes discussions with Heilongjiang Province, which has recently shown interest in developing relations with the Eastern Cape.
