In response to the increasing rate of teenage pregnancy at Zwelitsha Senior Secondary School in Gxwaleni village, Ntabankulu, the Eastern Cape Government, led by Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa, conducted a vital intervention and outreach programme.
The program aimed to raise awareness about the risks of unprotected sex and provided targeted pregnancy intervention talks for girls and modelling discussions for boys.
Additionally, medical health professionals conducted screenings and provided health education, emphasizing abstinence and contraceptive use for eligible individuals.
The outreach programme also offered comprehensive healthcare services, including TB screening, HIV testing, dental services, and audiology services.
This initiative represents a multifaceted approach to tackling teenage pregnancy by combining education with direct healthcare services.
