This week marked a special milestone for Ndolomane "Mamntlane" Noweyitala, the beloved TikTok sensation and 97-year-old grandmother from Ntabane AA, Willovale. Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, together with Human Settlements MEC Siphokazi Mani Lusithi, handed over the keys to her brand-new home in a heartfelt ceremony.
Mamntlane, who has captured hearts online with her joyful and inspiring presence, has lived in a mud structure with her 60-year-old son and two grandchildren.
The handing over of the house is part of the ongoing Provincial Government's initiatives aimed at replacing outdated homes with modern, weather-resistant buildings, and Mamntlane's new house is a testament to this commitment. The event was also used to introduce a contractor for a new project to build 250 houses for destitute families in the Mbhashe Local Municipality.
Mamntlane has expressed her joy and appreciation for her new shelter. "I am deeply grateful to the Premier and the entire provincial government for this beautiful home. It means the world to me to have a safe and comfortable place to call my own."
The handover ceremony also demonstrates the government's dedication to enhancing living conditions for vulnerable communities, particularly the elderly.
Premier Mabuyane said, "Providing a dignified home for our elderly and vulnerable is a profound affirmation of their worth and a vital step towards improving their quality of life as well as creating a more compassionate society. It's a privilege to be part of this moment. Mamntlane's vibrant spirit has touched many lives, and it is only fitting that she enjoys a home that reflects the respect and care we have for our elders."
Mamntlane's rise to fame on TikTok has brought her even more recognition and has shown the intersection of government and community support as well as social media influence. The ceremony celebrated not only Mamntlane's new home but also her impact as a social media star who continues to inspire people across generations.
