In the heart of Mdeni Village at Tlokoeng, in Joe Gqabi District Municipality, there stands a testament to governmental dedication and community progress. Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, alongside Education MEC Fundile Gade, recently opened the newly constructed Solomzi Primary School, demonstrating a continued commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the area.
The construction of this school is part of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Development Initiative (ASDI), an effort aimed at modernizing school facilities by replacing unsafe structures with modern, well-equipped facilities. The newly built structure boasts fifteen spacious classrooms, a multipurpose center, nutrition facilities, and a fully stocked library, designed to provide students with a conducive learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence.
Early childhood development has also received due attention with the inclusion of two Grade R classrooms within the school premises, highlighting the government s commitment to laying a strong educational foundation from an early age.
Premier Mabuyane highlighted vandalism as a major concern and called for the communities to look out for the schools and all public facilities. These public facilities are vital for community development and should be preserved for future generations. Let us pledge to safeguard our schools and invest in the future of our children. With education as our guiding light, we can build a brighter, more equitable future for all,” said Mabuyane.
In the Joe Gqabi district alone, approximately twenty schools have been established in the past five years, including Dinizulu Senior Secondary School, Inxu and Mpumelelo Mfundisi Primary Schools, as well as Tinana Junior Secondary. These schools are part of the 98 schools built across the province in the Sixth Term of Administration.
Additionally, in Mdeni Village, the Premier opened the Siyamthanda Center for the Disabled, which caters for learners with cerebral palsy and autism. This initiative is a collaborative effort of the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Disability Economic Empowerment Trust, as well as Social Empowerment Fund.
