Eastern Cape Province commemorates International Women's Day with focus on empowerment
The Eastern Cape Province celebrated International Women's Day on March 8, 2024, in Port Alfred, Ndlambe Local Municipality, with a focus on empowering women. The event acknowledged women's achievements and discussed challenges and opportunities for empowerment.

Speakers highlighted the need for inclusive policies and initiatives tailored to address women's unique needs in the province. Keynote Speaker, Deputy Minister Nokuzola Sisisi Tolashe, affirmed the government's commitment to providing equal opportunities for women and addressing violence and abuse faced by them.

The gathering included government officials, community leaders, women's rights advocates, and the public, who discussed strategies to enhance gender equality and empower women in various sectors, including education, employment, and leadership.

Meanwhile, Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane, and Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete gathered women in the human settlements sector in East London to reflect and celebrate their achievements and contributions. This initiative aligns with the government's commitment to ensuring women's active participation in all sectors of the economy. Premier Mabuyane emphasized the importance of accelerating progress in women's empowerment, not only to promote gender equality but also to contribute to the overall development and prosperity of the Eastern Cape province.
