The Matric pass rate in the Eastern Cape has consistently increased, reaching 81.4% in 2023. The government plans to support schools to increase the Matric pass rate to 90% by 2030.
The Eastern Cape is focusing on improving healthcare access and outcomes. Initiatives have been put in place to combat HIV/AIDS, improve post-natal care, and address non-communicable diseases. Investments have been made in healthcare infrastructure, including establishing new healthcare facilities and expanding medical education.
Efforts have also been made to provide formal housing and upgrade informal settlements. There has been a notable increase in the percentage of households residing in formal dwellings.
The Eastern Cape Provincial Government is working to support youth development and curb youth unemployment. These efforts aim to equip young people with the necessary skills and opportunities to succeed in various sectors of the economy.
