SPRINGWATER PROJECT BENEFITS OVER 300 HOUSEHOLDS IN ZWELEDINGA VILLAGE IN WHITTLESEA
Water challenges are a thing of the past to residents of Zweledinga village in Whittlesea. This, as Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Nonkqubela Pierterse delivered spring water projects to 380 households in the area.

This marks a crucial moment in the province's mission to provide reliable access to clean, fresh water for its rural communities. The project represents the Provincial Government's commitment to addressing water scarcity and enhancing living conditions in historically underprivileged districts in the province.

The project does not only meet basic needs but also catalyzes socio-economic growth, particularly in agricultural activities. The department implemented the project by finding natural water sources in nearby hills and mountains and installing communal taps for household use.

As part of the government's employment initiatives, the program also provided training and employment to 59 residents for various roles, including maintenance tasks. This strategy not only promotes the longevity of the water supply system but also fosters community ownership and resilience.

The delivery of these projects marks the completion of infrastructure work done by the Department in several rural communities of the Eastern Cape that will now have reliable access to clean fresh water as part of the implementation of the province's rural development programme.
