The Eastern Cape Provincial Government (ECPG) together with its social partners will on Friday, 29th September 2023, converge to Buffalo City Metro to this year's Provincial Investment Conference that will expand on government s stance on the provincial Economic Recovery Plan. This conference has attracted about 400 delegates comprised of investors from the business sector, including international investors and government leaders.
Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane will feature as keynote speaker presenting the Eastern Cape s case as a compelling investment destination and several public infrastructure investments designed to augment the province s value proposition.
The Provincial Government hopes to see this year s conference forging new investment partnerships from the private and public sectors for future economic growth to address under investment in some parts of the province. Importantly, the new investments will significantly contribute to the goals of socio-economic development of the province aimed at creating sustainable jobs, poverty reduction and address issues of inequality amongst citizens.
Last year's Provincial Investment Conference (PIC)saw a whooping R46 billion worth of investment announced,this brought the value of investment implemented in the province since 2019 to R171 billion, of which, R1,4 billion had been invested as at end of June 2023, resulting in more than 1 000 jobs being created.
The conference will be preceded by the launch of the Provincial Investment Council (PIC) on 28 September 2023 at the Olivewood Golf Club.
The council is supported by a public sector workstream chaired by the Director-General of the Eastern Cape, while the PIC is chaired by the Premier. The council will support the province s investor-attraction efforts by driving measure for a conducive environment to do business in the Eastern Cape.
