Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane together with Education MEC Fundile Gade handed over a more than R100 million state of the art school to the community of rural Phahlakazi Village in Port St Johns, O.R Tambo District Municipality.

Implemented by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) on behalf of government, the Gobinamba Technical & Commercial School boasts 48 classrooms, two (2) science laboratories, two (2) computer laboratories, school hall, media center, administration block, two (2) nutrition centers, security room, cleaners room, 51 ventilated pit latrines for learners and staff members.

The school, which offers Grade 10 to 12 was established in 1995 by community members through donations and support from the Department of Education.
