The Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality continues to advance its infrastructure development programme through the implementation of the R42 million Tshatshatsha Bridge project in Ward 7, a strategic investment aimed at improving connectivity, strengthening service delivery and enhancing the quality of life for local communities.

The bridge is expected to significantly enhance connectivity by improving access to essential services such as healthcare and education, while also supporting local economic activity. The project is anticipated to create approximately 30 temporary employment opportunities, providing income and skills development for residents during the construction period.

During the visit, Mayor Siyabulela Zangqa inspected progress on site and engaged with contractors and project teams to assess implementation, identify any challenges affecting delivery, and ensure that construction is progressing according to approved standards and timelines.

Speaking during the oversight visit, Mayor Zangqa emphasised that regular monitoring plays a vital role in ensuring accountability and delivering quality infrastructure that meets the needs of communities

"These visits allow us to assess progress on the ground, engage directly with contractors and project teams, identify any challenges that may affect delivery, and ensure that public funds are being utilised responsibly. Our communities deserve quality infrastructure that improves their daily lives, and we remain committed to seeing these projects through to completion," said Mayor Zangqa.

The bridge project forms part of the Municipality s ongoing investment in infrastructure development to strengthen service delivery projects across Ngcobo and improve mobility and stimulate local economic growth.

The Mayor reaffirmed the Municipality s commitment to conducting regular oversight visits to strategic infrastructure projects to ensure they are completed successfully and deliver lasting value to the people of Ngcobo.
