Demonstrating a shared commitment to youth economic empowerment and inclusive development, Alfred Nzo District Municipality Executive Mayor of, Cllr. Tsileng Sobuthongo, joined the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), at the official handover of business funding to more than 25 young entrepreneurs through the NYDA Youth and Disability Empowerment Programme in eMaxesibeni.
Among the 25 beneficiaries are young persons with disabilities from all four local municipalities within the district, reflecting the programme s commitment to promoting inclusive economic participation. The beneficiaries operate businesses across a diverse range of sectors, including agriculture, retail, food services, beauty and wellness, information technology, photography and videography, manufacturing, cleaning products, welding, and other small enterprise ventures. This funding will assist young entrepreneurs to establish, sustain and expand their businesses, creating employment opportunities while contributing to local economic growth across the district.
Addressing the beneficiaries during the handover ceremony, Mayor Sobuthongo reaffirmed the Municipality s commitment to empowering young people as key drivers of economic development and job creation. She welcomed the continued partnership with the NYDA, describing the initiative as a significant investment in the future of Alfred Nzo District and a practical demonstration of government commitment to inclusive development and economic participation.

She further encouraged beneficiaries to utilise the funding responsibly, strengthen their businesses, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of their communities.
