The Eastern Cape Provincial Government, through the Isiqalo Youth Fund Programme, continues to advance youth-led economic transformation by supporting emerging enterprises across the province. This commitment was recently demonstrated in the Mnquma Local Municipality through the support extended to Last Bite Confectionary (Pty) Ltd, a baking and confectionery enterprise owned by Mr Sibulele Mbanga.
The handover ceremony was led by officials from the Office of the Premier alongside the Director of Local Economic Development, Mr Mongi Dilika, joined by representatives from the Mnquma Local Municipality and members of the Mbanga family. Established in 2019 in the heart of Vuli Valley, Last Bite Confectionary (Pty) Ltd has grown from humble beginnings into a promising local enterprise driven by determination, resilience, and a vision to create meaningful economic opportunities within the community.
The highlight of the handover was the addition of a brand-new Nissan Magnite delivery vehicle, by Isiqalo Youth Fund, a major asset that marks a significant turning point in the growth trajectory of the business by improving its delivery and distribution capacity.
The support package handed over included baking essentials and equipment aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the business.
Speaking during the handover, Mr Mbanga reflected on the impact of the support, noting that Last Bite Confectionary (Pty) Ltd is now well-positioned to expand its market reach by supplying local outlets including Fresh Stop at Astron Fuel Station in Butterworth, Shell garages in Ibika and Inciba, as well as shops in Komga and Dutywa.
Mbanga also shared his vision of growing the enterprise into a sustainable business capable of creating employment opportunities and inspiring other young entrepreneurs to pursue their ambitions despite challenging circumstances.
This initiative serves as a powerful reminder that when opportunity meets perseverance, transformation becomes possible. What began as a small idea in 2019 now continues to grow into a thriving enterprise carrying with it the promise of economic empowerment, community development, and a brighter future for the people of Mnquma.
Beyond celebrating the success of one entrepreneur, the support extended to Last Bite Confectionary (Pty) Ltd demonstrates the Eastern Cape Provincial Government s ongoing commitment to investing in youth development, local enterprise growth, and inclusive economic participation.
