Eastern Cape Provincial Government kick-started this year s Back-to-School campaign in Nkanini Village near Mthatha in the OR Tambo District Municipality, yesterday.

Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane conducted an oversight and state of readiness visit at Gobizizwe Agricultural School. The school has been one of the best performing schools in 2019 and 2020, getting 100% and 97% matric pass rate respectively, and saw a minor drop of their pass rate to 94% in 2021.

The school s nutrition gardening programme is a model for instilling an entrepreneurial spirit among learners, as its produce is regularly sold in the local market, thus promoting a culture of entrepreneurship.

Premier Mabuyane was joined by sponsors - Old Mutual and Al-Imdaad Foundation - who donated agriculture inputs and some school stationery.
