Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane chaired the first Premier s Inter-Governmental Forum (PIGF) on the 20th of September 2022 following the recent Local Government Elections.

The PIGF comprises Members of the Executive Council (Provincial Cabinet), Mayors and leaders of local government institutions such as the South African Local Government Association (SALGA).

The main objective of the forum is to improve Inter-Governmental Relations within the context of cooperative governance, so as to streamline the work of the provincial government and local municipalities.

The PIGF also takes place against the backdrop of the recent reports of the Auditor-General in respect of the state of municipalities in the province, as well as deliberations of SALGA at its meeting in East London a fortnight ago.
