The Eastern Cape Provincial Cabinet welcomed three new Members of the Executive Council (MECs) to assist and provide agility in the provision of services to our communities. Zolile Williams, Bukiwe Fanta and Ntombovuyo Nkopane were effectively sworn into their positions on Tuesday, 16 August 2022.
Zolile Williams will take over as MEC for COGTA with Bukiwe Fanta occupying the seat of MEC for Social Development and Ntombovuyo Nkopane taking the lead as MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure.
These changes also included shifting Xolile Nqatha from Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to Transport and Community Safety, Nonceba Kontsiwe from Human Settlements to Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Siphokazi Mani-Lusithi from Social Development to Human Settlements.
I have also welcomed the incoming MECs and expressed my expectations on the deliverables that need to be achieved. In this regard, I have served them with draft Delivery Agreements that need to be signed before the end of this month. That s how urgent the task is. I have told them unambiguously that I expect them to be amongst the communities and stakeholders we serve all the time. We are not in office to seat in airconditioned offices, we are here to serve the masses out there. We must know what the situation is on the ground where our people reside”, said Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane.
