Through a collaborative effort by Government and the community of Ibika, Fuel Mart Capital, led by Mr Mava Mkukwana, started the first phase of Ibika Commercial Centre back in 2020, which boasts a Shell garage, Spar Express, Steers and Debonairs. The centre started operating in February 2021 and 110 permanent jobs were created during this first phase.
Recently, Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane officiated the sod-turning ceremony for the commencement of Phase 2 of this project, which will see the creation of 250 additional jobs for young people in this community. The second phase will comprise of a pharmacy, China Mall, as well as KFC and Wimpy drive-thru's.
The Eastern Cape Provincial Government is very proud of entrepreneurs such as Mr Mkukwana who have a vision to empower and develop rural communities. The Provincial Government wishes them well and look forward to supporting their business, for it has a positive impact on people's livelihoods.
