The South African Police Service, together with the Eastern Cape Provincial Government convened a meeting with family members at the SAPS in East London, to provide an update on the tragic death of 21 young people at the Enyobeni Tarven in Scenery Park. We did commit that we will come back to this community and find out what can we do, so that that we don t we experience the same encounter of what has happened where we lose so many young lives” said Minister Bheki Cele in the meeting. Minister informed the family members about the arrested perpetrators who will appear in court again on the 19 August 2022, that will go and explain themselves and those laws that they broke after the case has been opened by the Liquor Board and the authorities from that side of life.
The preliminary report tabled recently follows the promise by SAPS and Provincial Government, to provide feedback after the toxicology lab runs its tests on samples taken from the bodies of the said young people.
In the meeting, Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane assured family members that no stones will be left unturned, We are putting every activity around this matter under microscopic view, we don t want to leave anything to chance, and no stone will be left unturned”. Premier pleaded for patience from the families and everyone during the underway investigations and assured that government will continue to keep families posted on the case proceedings We said to everyone, please bear with us we ve got to be meticulous on this matter so that there is no rush-rush” Premier allude.
