The Premier of the Eastern Cape province, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane and VWSA’s Chairman

Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane joined VWSA’s Chairman and Managing Director, Thomas Schaefer, to officially hand-over the conversion of an old component plant into a 4000-bed temporal field hospital -  for COVID-19 patients in Port Elizabeth, earlier today.
With 376 people in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro having contracted Coronavirus, this field hospital will be a shot in the arm of the Province’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus as it will provide medical support to about 4000 people that will require oxygenation during this pandemic.
As part of its contribution to the Province’s efforts to curb the COVID-19 pandemic and following their engagement with Premier Mabuyane, VWSA secured funding from the German Government to convert its old component plant in Korsten into a temporary medical facility, for the COVID-19 patients that will need hospitalisation.
The Premier says social partnership between Government and Business organs is a true reflection of a collaborative effort to build and grow the Eastern Cape we want.
