Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane has embarked on a two-day visit to the Joe Gqabi District Municipality, to handover resources for development to local communities of municipalities in the Joe Gqabi district with a special focus on women, the elderly and the youth recently.
The visit comes few weeks after Premier Mabuyane visited Alfred Nzo District Municipality as part of his on-going programme to empower vulnerable groups and communities in the province.
On day one of the two-day visit, Premier handed over Personal Protective Equipment to local schools, especially those that experienced an outbreak of COVID-19 infections.
As part of the visit programme, Premier also visited Poultry & Livestock - Youth Project, and have committed to support the project with R 500 000 worth Poultry Structure consisting of stock laying hens, chicken feeding, medication, and also Hatchery Machine Poultry Structure with cages and chicken feeders trays, tanks, water pipes and fencing material as well as project directional signage boards.
The project is situated at Goedehoop Farm, Walter Sisulu Local Municipality, James Calata Town. It has 530 Agora goats at the farm that produce wool for market purposes.
During his visit, Premier also held a prayer session for front line workers at Maletswai Hospital, James Calata Town.
