After months of leading the province's fight against COVID-19, Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane took a leap of faith when he jumped off one of the highest world famous bungee-jumping bridges - the Bloukrans in Tsitsikamma - after joining Tourism Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane in launching the National Park's Big Tree Precinct, as part of reviving the province's tourism economy.
He kick-started some of the key outdoor activities in the Garden Route area of the Tsitsikama to activate tourism in the Eastern Cape. Among those, was the world-famous bungy jumping off the highest commercial Bloukrans Bridge Bungy, at 216 metres (709 ft) above the Bloukrans River, situated on the N2 Highway,in the garden route at the border between the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape Province.
